Biography

Rippin Sindher (director, writer, producer, actor) is a Ryan Murphy Half Initiative directing fellow. She was previously a finalist for the Sundance New Voices Lab and AFI Directing Workshop for Women with her romcom pilot. Her recent mini-documentary, SEVA, explores Sikh-Americans and the practice of selfless giving. She began her career working for the Directors Guild of America for several years, which became her film school. She created the YouTube web series, The Man of Mystery and followed with her Bollywood-American musical, The Hideout, which she wrote, directed, acted and sings in. The film was showcased in the American Cinematheque 2018 Focus on Female Directors program and was an official selection at LA Shorts, Long Beach Indie (nominated for Best Musical) and New York Indian Film Festival, among others. The film earned Rippin the Emerging Filmmaker Award at Festival Angaelica. In addition, she directed for His & Hers for PlugTV and created a digital series focused on female empowerment entitled, MotivateHER. She is attached to direct her first feature film adaptation, The Village Bride of Beverly Hills, which she also penned. In 2017, she was named Top 50 Influential South Asians and was a guest speaker for the SikhLens Creative Roundtable. Rippin is an active member of Film Independent and mentors for the non-profit, Writegirl. She received the UCLA Women Leaders Award and represented Central California at the World Leadership Congress in Washington, DC.
